Content & AI Disclosure
This page explains how Kathayan's stories are made, what role software plays in that work, and what we do not allow it to do.
Human editorial control
Every story, documentary page and research feature on Kathayan is prepared and approved by human editors. Nothing is published automatically: drafts and proposals stay private until editors complete review, fact-checking and rights clearance.
AI-assisted material is labelled
Where a recording, voice, image or translation was produced with AI assistance, that is stated on the page where it appears. AI-assisted narration is never presented as a named human narrator.
AI never certifies or approves
Software can assist our teams — for example by suggesting a preliminary rating for internal review. Such recommendations are stored separately, are reviewable and auditable, and are always confirmed by a named human reviewer. An AI-assisted suggestion is never a government certification or an official approval, and we never present it as one.
Facts, evidence and uncertainty
We do not use AI to generate historical claims, citations or sources. Key claims are tied to verified sources; where evidence, interpretation and traditional accounts differ, we show them separately and mark uncertainty. Errors are corrected publicly on the Corrections page.
Your data and AI
We do not publish reader submissions, personal accounts or correspondence through automated systems without human review. How we handle personal data is set out in our privacy policy.
