Accessibility Statement
We want every story on Kathayan to be readable, watchable and navigable by as many people as possible.
What we aim for
We work towards WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That means readable colour contrast, text that scales, meaningful headings, descriptive link text and pages that work without a mouse.
Video accessibility
Our documentaries and series carry subtitles or captions on the official channel where they are published, in Hindi and, where available, English. Where a project page publishes a transcript or a sourced article version, it is linked from that page.
Images and media
Posters, stills and illustrative images carry alternative text describing what they show. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
Keyboard navigation
Menus, forms and interactive controls can be reached and operated with the Tab, Enter, Space and arrow keys, with a visible focus indicator throughout.
Known limitations
Embedded third-party players are governed by that platform's own accessibility features. Older archive material may not yet carry a full transcript; we add these as we review the library.
Tell us about a barrier
If any page, video or document is difficult to use, write to contact@kathayan.in with the page address and what happened. We acknowledge accessibility reports within 24 hours and aim to fix or offer an alternative within 15 days.
