Content Classification
Every video published on Kathayan is self-classified before release, and the rating is displayed on the title page.
Age ratings we use
- U — Universal — Suitable for all ages.
- U/A 7+ — Parental guidance for children below 7.
- U/A 13+ — Parental guidance for viewers below 13.
- U/A 16+ — Parental guidance for viewers below 16.
- A — Adults only — Restricted to viewers aged 18 and above.
Content descriptors
Where relevant, a title also carries one or more descriptors so viewers know what to expect: Theme, Violence, Language, Nudity, Sexual Content, Substance Use, Horror, Disturbing Images.
How classification is decided
The editorial team reviews each title against the rating definitions above before it is approved for publication. Ratings are recorded with the title and can be revised if a viewer complaint or an internal review shows the original rating was wrong.
Parental guidance
Ratings are guidance, not a substitute for supervision. Where a title is rated U/A or A, parents and guardians should decide whether it is suitable for a particular child.
